Description: Attendees: This course is intended for persons responsible for inspecting and checking basic scaffolds for safe use and for signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations. Pre-Requisite: CISRS would expect delegates to have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, which would have come from time spent in their individual industry sector e.g. construction, engineering, manufacturing, offshore etc. Health & Safety Requirements: CITB Health and Safety and Environment Test within 2 years prior to attending the CISRS Basic SITS course. CISRS do accept some other industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications as an exemption to the CITB HS&E Test. Those listed below must be completed within 2 years of the date of application. Health & Safety Requirements: IOSH Working Safely/IOSH Managing Safely/IOSH Directing Safely FAS Safe Pass NEBOSH (General/Construction/International/) H&S Certificate SMSTS Certificate SSSTS Certificate Current CCNSG Safety Passport (SCATS) Current CCNSG Safety Passport Supervisor (SCATS) Current MIST/BOSIET/OPITO Approved Offshore Certificate Objectives: To develop an understanding of scaffold components, forms of construction and inspection procedures of basic access scaffolds and to comply with current legislation and Codes of Practice: Identify and inspect tubes, boards, ladders, gin wheels, ropes and fittings correctly. State the main requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Work at Regulations 2005 and codes of practice relating to scaffolding. Identify the construction requirements common to all scaffolds to include:- Foundations, Scaffold framework, TG20 compliant scaffolds and permissible additions, Working Platforms, handrails and toe boards Safe Access and egress Carry out inspections and fault identification on access scaffolds Complete and maintain reports in accordance with current statutory provision.
